Hip-Hop

Hip-hop is a vibrant cultural movement born in the 1970s Bronx, New York, defined by four core elements: DJing (turntablism), MCing (rapping), B-boying/Breaking (dance), and Graffiti Art, often with a fifth element of "knowledge" or consciousness, influencing fashion, language, and global expression. Musically, it features rhythmic beats, sampled sounds, and rhythmic, rhyming speech (rapping) that tells stories and comments on urban life, evolving into numerous subgenres.
